Travel inspiration
Your first safari, started well.
If East Africa is new to you, the best first safari is a simple one: one country, a well-paced route and a guide who explains what you are seeing. We help you choose what fits your time, comfort and curiosity — no checklist, no pressure.
Start with one country
Tanzania and Kenya both offer reliable, year-round wildlife and the classic images most first-time travellers picture. Uganda and Rwanda reward a second journey, or a first one built around gorillas. One country, travelled well, beats two countries rushed.
Give it enough nights
Most first safaris land happily between seven and ten nights. Fewer than five and the journey becomes a transfer schedule; much more than twelve and attention begins to thin. We pace it around you.
Know what a safari day feels like
Mornings start early, before the heat, when wildlife is most active. There is a slow middle of the day — lunch, a rest, a pool, a book — and the afternoon moves back out until light fades. It is a rhythm, not a race.
Routing
Two or three complementary areas — never a new lodge every night.
Guiding
A guide who reads the land and answers every question, however small.
Comfort
Camps and lodges chosen for how they welcome a first-time traveller.
Length
Seven to ten nights is the most common first-journey shape.
A sense of place
Take a moment. Look closer.
