The Destination

Mikumi National Park

Mikumi National Park sits at the northern gateway to the Selous-Nyerere ecosystem — a vast open flood plain framed by the Uluguru and Rubeho mountains, producing a landscape that strongly resembles the Serengeti at a fraction of the visitor numbers.

The Mkata Plain is Mikumi's centrepiece — an expansive grassland where lion, elephant, giraffe, zebra, and wildebeest move freely in open view. The park is genuinely accessible from Dar es Salaam for weekend safaris, and forms a natural entry point to the Southern Circuit.

AT ONE combines Mikumi with Nyerere and Ruaha for guests who wish to explore the full depth of Tanzania's southern wilderness.

The hippo pools near park headquarters are among the most accessible in Tanzania.

Giraffe

Masai giraffe are abundant — feeding from trees at eye level on the open plain edges.
